Hysek Abyss Chronograph Tenth Anniversary Edition Watch

By Osheen Arakelian

The Abyss has been Hysek’s flagship series chronograph for ten years now. To celebrate, the firm has added four new models that combine gold and titanium, all featuring a sapphire bezel and a case with swivelling horns.

Hysek Abyss Tenth Anniversary Collection 1

To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the Hysek Abyss, the Swiss company has decided to celebrate with the release of 4 new models. Being that the most emblematic model is the chronograph, it was only fitting that they be used as the benchmark for the new generation of sports watches to be released by Hysek. First introduced into Hysek’s collection as early as 2005, the Abyss has mirrored the success and rise of the Swiss manufacture leading to what you see today. Following on from this success, 3 new versions of the emblematic tri-compax chronograph have been added to the Abyss collection, crowned by a 4th, numbered edition.

Hysek has chosen to utilise both rose gold and titanium in the 4 new additions. The reasoning for using 2 such different materials together was because they represent the twofold vocation of the Abyss collection as being both a sports and luxury timepiece. To ensure the collection doesn’t stray too far from the rest of the family, the new models are based on versions that were presented in 2014 (Abyss 44mm Chronograph). They all feature the same swivelling horns system that has been developed by the manufacture, which allows the timepiece to fit neatly around the wrist, with no manual adjustment necessary. They also all share the same rose gold for the horns and crown guards, located at 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock. All timekeeping adjustments are also made using a single crown located at 3 o’clock.

The variations in each timepiece vary mostly through a different sapphire bezel that is available in anthracite, black or gold that is finished around a 44mm case. The gold finish has its own specially designed anniversary plate, with “10th anniversary” engraved beneath the protection located at 9 o’clock. The dial is also available in either anthracite or black PVD with all versions sporting the same titanium case, except for one special variation that is finished in black PVD.

Hysek Abyss Tenth Anniversary Collection 2

Tucked beneath and powering the Hysek Abyss is a Swiss manufactured automatic calibre movement with 42-hour power reserve. Also, in keeping with Hysek’s idea of making it an everyday wearable timepiece, a date window has been added at 3’oclock. In keeping with the idea of everyday use, Super-LumiNova treatment has been given to the hour and minute hands, as well as the various chronograph hands.

The entire collection is finished off with a choice of 3 types of straps: leather, rubber or a combination of titanium and steel. For more info, please visit hysek.com
