WristReview’s BaselWorld Extravaganza

By Harlan Chapman-Green

It’s the one, the only, BaselWorld! That’s right, it’s that magical time of year once again where everyone gathers around a proverbial campfire and tells the horror stories of mountains of paperwork and sleepless nights over their newest designs. We don’t get to hear about that, though, we’re more interested in the products of their endless toiling. For one week only you’ll get a look at what’s coming up in the market this year and what’s going to be widely available in the earliest parts of the next year (I give you the GlobeMaster which is just becoming available to purchase).

All the big guns will be there: Rolex, Omega, Patek Philippe, Breguet, Blancpain as well as some of our returning favourites such as HYT and H. Moser & Cie. Around 150,000 visitors and 4,300 journalists from all over the world are expected to attend this year’s event to see what the 1,500 exhibitors from 40 countries are going to present on display for the world . Neither could I possibly begin to portray my excitement to you in a way that wouldn’t seem similar to that of a 5-year-old in a sweet shop, but that’s what I feel like and I’m not even going to be attending this year!

This brings me on to a rather tricky subject, however, due to private matters, other projects, hotel bookings (seriously, almost all of Basel is booked up a year in advance) and other commitments none of the WristReview team will be able to attend the show in person, but, we are still committed bringing you the best of the best of the show in our articles and we hope you’ll trust us to give you the best virtual tour of the world’s largest watch convention.

Remember, like most journalists we never seem to sleep, so there will always be new content around to keep up with!

Baselworld 2016 will run from March 17 to March 24, 2016 with the following opening hours:
Thursday, March 17 to Wednesday, March 23: 9.00 am – 6.00 pm
Thursday, March 24: 9.00 am – 4.00 pm
