HUBLOT King Power Usain Bolt

HUBLOT King Power Usain Bolt Ref: 703.CI.1129.NR.USB12 – A watch perfectly named for the King of Speed on the running track. I actually managed to get my hands on this watch at the Hublot boutique, on New Bond Street. I must say its a little bit on the large side for me but I’m sure Usain has no problem with that.

Usain had a good level of input into the design details, hence the gold colour used on the strap and dial flange (matching the colour of his running shoes), the green that sits at 6 o’clock on the 12-hour chronograph counter (one of the colours taken from the Jamaican flag) and of course the signature “Lightning Bolt” stance; an anthracite grey transfer on a black background at 9 o’clock.  Another detail – the choice to have his silhouette appear at the centre of the permanent chronograph, embodying time which constantly passes, never stopping…

The chronograph movement features a central 60-second hand and a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock (which could serve him well in his crucial preparation routine during the final countdown prior to each race). A 12-hour chronograph counter sits at 6 o’clock and a date window at 4.30 completes the design. The watch is 48 mm in diameter, in micro-blasted ceramic, I must admit does look quite attractive on the wrist. Which brings me to my next point, this watch in my opinion is quite heavy but I was assured this is due to the mechnical Calibre HUB4100 movement and not the watch case; which is very smooth. The chrono pushers do require a good bit of pressure to bring the chrono movement to life.

Now for the bad news, this timepiece is limited to just 250 pieces worldwide meaning you may find it hard to obtain and even if you do, you’ll have to cough up the asking price of £17,750.00.
