Paying tribute to its 100th anniversary in 2013, Seiko unveils its new limited edition Grand Seiko 44GS watch. The novelty has been created in four variations.
The new Seiko watch makes one think of the original Grand Seiko model, a true brand’s icon introduced back in 1960. In particular, it has been inspired by the 44GS model born in 1967 and represents its skillful recreation. It has maintained the signature characteristics of the Grand Seiko design. It demonstrates restrained look and guarantees mechanical precision.
The case-construction stands out by its fine polishing, clear edges and perfectly flat surfaces. You will notice razor-sharp edges to the hands and hour markers on the dial. The case, the same as the original, measures 37.9 mm in diameter.
While the initial 44GS model was animated by the hand-wound Calibre 4420B, operating at a frequency of 18,000 vph, the novelty is equipped with the new 9S64 movement. The hand-wound 24-jewel mechanism, with the balance frequency of 28,000 vph, provides a 72-hour power reserve.
The face of the new 44GS watch is shielded by a sapphire crystal with the brand’s proprietary anti-reflection coating on the inner surface. Following the original model, the case-back reveals the Grand Seiko emblem.
The new Grand Seiko 44GS watch has been created in the following variations: the case rendered in white, yellow or rose gold, each limited to only 70 pieces. The forth variation is crafted from stainless steel – the same as the original 44 GS model. Its edition is limited to 700 pieces.
