IWC-Schaffhausen

International Watch Company, better known as IWC and IWC – Schaffhausen, is a Swisswatch manufacturers, dating back to 1868 when an American named Florentine Ariosto Jones decided to start a watch factory.

That it was in the IWC Schaffhausen started its production of watches was because a few years earlier built a hydroelectric power which enabled the industries to establish themselves in Schaffhausen.

IWC is the firstand only watch manufacturer in north-eastern Switzerland.

In 1936, IWC launched production of watches specifically designed for pilots, the first of IWCs pilot series called the Mark IX.

A few decades later, the IWC began cooperation with car maker Porsche.

Together, developed and marketed the world’s first watch with a built-in compass, this was in 1978.

In recent years, the IWC collaborated with Mercedes.

In 1991 founded the IWC Director Günter Blümlein LMH Group with its headquarters in Schaffhausen.

LMH owns IWC, 60 percent of the Jaeger LeCoultre and 90 percent ofGerman watch manufacturer A Lange & Sohne.

A total of LMH Group more than 1440employees.

In July 2000, LMH was acquired by Richemont, a company with a focus on luxury products.

The takeover guaranteed independence and continuity of the brands in the LHM group.

Meanwhile, the purchase of the Swiss watch brand IWC and JaegerLeCoultre stayed in the Swiss-owned.
