Bovet Fleurier Amadeo Fleurier 39 Lady for Only Watch 2015

By Jonathan Kopp

To start, let’s go over some basic information about the Bovet watch company. This way you’ll better understand who they are and why this Amadeo Fleurier 39 Lady watch is utterly amazing.

Bovet is a Swiss maker of luxury timepieces whose origins date back to 1822, the year in which Edouard Bovet founded their workshop in the picturesque Val-de-Travers region of Switzerland. Bovet is renowned for its pocket watches manufactured for the Chinese market in the 19th century. Today, under the guidance of Pascal Raffy, a visionary with a passion for Haute Horlogerie Bovet is thriving, manufacturing unique timepieces distinguished by their pocket watch inspired form. From extraordinary complications such as tourbillons and minute repeaters to rare artisanal crafts such as enamel painting and fleurisanne engraving. Each Bovet timepiece is brought to life under the practiced hand of a master watchmaker. With a highly limited production annually, Bovet seeks to preserve and cultivate the art and craft of traditional watchmaking while delighting connoisseurs and collectors.

The sixth biennial Only Watch auction will take place on the 6th of November to raise money for the Monaco Association Against Muscular Dystrophy. Under the high patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, Only Watch has secured donations from some of the best brands and watchmakers around the world. What makes the Only Watch Charity Auction unique is that the timepieces donated for auction are the “only watch” of their type available – that means that they are, or the very first watch in a limited edition, a special prototype or also a watch made especially for this special occasion.

For this year’s Only Watch 2015 charity auction, Bovet has created a real piece of art that represents a concentration of the expertise that they have sought to perpetuate since their beginning. This unique timepiece is based on a model that will be launched in 2016.

Note that in the 44 pieces donated for the charity auction only 4 are dedicated for women and the others watches are from Boucheron, Chanel and Christophe Claret.

The convertible Amadeo Fleurier 39 Lady Bovet is presented with a 236 diamond-set, 39mm white gold Amadeo case that allows the timepiece to easily transform from a reversible wristwatch, to a table clock, or to a pendant necklace, without requiring a single tool. This wonderful piece is animated by the Virtuoso II watchmaking specialty caliber developed by Manufacturer DIMIER 1738 (This is the hand-wound caliber 13BM08AI).The exemplary chronometry of this movement is accentuated by irreproachable finishings and seven days of power reserve.

The design theme is inspired by the universal message of peace and hope whilst honouring women, who give life and protect children and represent the future. Thanks to its reversibility, this piece presents two amazing faces. The front of the watch features a diamond-set pink mother-of-pearl guilloche dial at 12 with hours and minutes indicator, a small second counter at 6 O’clock, and the power reserve indicator at 9 while the back displays a pink mother-of-pearl dial with a miniature painting of a pair of doves surrounded by colourful flowers. This painting is a reproduction of the grand feu enamel case back of a Bovet pocket watch that was manufactured at the turn of the 19th century. The crown and strap bolts are set with 5 briolette diamonds, complimented by a purple alligator strap and white gold buckle.
