Cartier Tortue Multiple Time Zone

Cartier have unveiled its new Tortue Multiple Time Zone watch. The novelty captures attention due to its striking design and high legibility. It has been created as a fine timekeeping companion for frequent travelers. Its great advantage is remarkable user-friendliness.

The tortoise-shaped case of the new Cartier watch (51 x 45.6 mm) demonstrates simple lines. It is fashioned in18K pink or white gold. There is also a diamond-decorated version. You will notice the watch has maintained the signature facetted sapphire on the winding crown.

The elaborate several-level dial impresses by its clarity. The finely cut-out, blue lacquered central part of the dial represents a part of the world map. This peculiarity of the model looks like an invitation to travel and makes it particularly attractive for world travelers.

Belonging to the family of “World Time” watches, the Cartier watch is animated by the Manufacture calibre 9914 MC, a self-winding mechanical movement, born in the brand’s workshops at La Chaux-de-Fonds. The 283-part, 27-jewel movement, with the balance frequency of 28 800 vibrations per hour, provides 48 hours of power reserve.

It offers the information for a modern traveler in the simplest way one can expect. The time at the current location is clearly displayed by the two principal hands, while the time at the starting point of the journey is displayed in a semi-circular aperture featured in the lower half of the dial by a day/night hand bearing symbols for the sun and moon.

To lighten the design of the face, Cartier watchmakers decided to make the names of the major cities of the world appear in a special window cut into the side of the case middle.

This ingenious mechanism is managed with help of a push-button found at 2 o’clock. It allows the wearer to see the time, featured in 24-hour mode, in cities corresponding to the 24 time zones of the world. The mechanism also takes account of the change from Summer to Winter time and shows it on another reference scale, so that to keep the time zone correct during the seven months when the Summer time is in effect.

The new Cartier Tortue Multiple Time Zone watch is teamed with a black alligator strap fitted with a double adjustable folding clasp.
