Girard-Perregaux Traveller WW.TC Titanium DLC Watch

By Osheen Arakelian

Girrard-Perregaux has just relaunched the Iconic Traveller WWW.TC with an all new intense black look and titanium case construction. It’s highly technical case houses a mechanical movement manufactured by Girard-Perregaux and offers a chronograph function as well as a world clock. The main point of this new piece as stated by Girard-Perregaux is to create the most ideal contemporary travelling companion, which is thanks to the world clock enabling the wearer to instantly know the time anywhere across the world (A great advantage for those who travel a lot for work, pilots or even hard-core adventurers who are always on the move).

The centre of the dial on the Girard Perregaux Traveller is also decked mostly in black keeping with its intense new theme and features a three-dimensional representation of the latitudes and longitudes covering the earth. Continuing the same theme, both the hands and the hour-markers are black but with the use of a luminous coating that helps keep track of the time regardless of the time of day. The use of a red hand for the chronograph breaks up the black theme really well and helps differentiate all the various aspects of the dial. The bright red chronograph hand is also accompanied by two separate minute and hour counters at 6 o’clock and 9 o’clock respectively.

The watch itself has 30 different parts tucked within a 44mm case chiselled out of titanium making it a lot lighter and stronger than the average wristwatch. The black coating on the watch is also another demonstration of the workmanship that has gone into this piece with the use of a diamond-like carbon treatment giving it the black colour you see before you. Inside lies the heart of the Girard Perregaux Traveller, the GP03300 self-winding mechanical movement developed entirely by Girard Perregaux. It contains 476 different component parts and comes equipped with a 46 hour power reserve and beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour.

The way this is all utilized on the face creates an easy to read world time function display on the perimeter of the dial thanks to the inner most ring indicating hours, along with a day night cycle and a full 24hr revolution. The outer ring however is static and shows the 24 different time zones that divide the planet.

The Girard Perregaux Traveller WWW.TC Titanium DLC is a real feat of engineering with the use of a world time function and chronograph with a daring black image. Although not the most functional if you don’t like to jet set around the world, you can’t help but appreciate the work and effort that has gone into creating such an intricate wristwatch. For more info, please visit girard-perregaux.com
