Delone Watches, a start-up founded by Arkadiy Barabanov in Berlin, Germany wants to bring back quality at a low cost. We all know that to cut costs and maximize profits, most manufactures turn to low cost production offered by developing economies. While this is excellent for the business, the negative side effects fall on the consumers. This is terrible for all of us horology fans so seeing a trend contrarian start-up like Delone is very refreshing. They plan to achieve this with the help of Swiss watchmakers and their expertise. The Swiss craftsmanship is marked with passion for high standards and I can’t wait to see this reflected on the Delone watches. The market also knows this that’s why within 24 hours of going live in Kickstarter, Delone managed to reach 12% of their target.

So let’s get down to business and I won’t bore you with lots of pleasantries so that you can decide quickly. First of all, the watch is on the dressy side of things. At 42 mm by 10.4 mm, it should wear comfortably on any wrist and from lug to lug, it measures 47 mm which is great as it gives the watch a noticable presence on your wrist. The case material is a high quality 316L all stainless steel with a very fine finish. Overall, the case exudes an elegant look and I happen to like its wire frame-like lugs which yields a handsome style. While this is technically unisex, I believe the steel look makes it more a gentleman’s watch unless one day the brand goes for a rose gold one.

Moving on to the dial, I appreciate its legibility and clean design. The indices are thin but made very legible by utilizing traditional styling. The hour and minute hands also feature white superluminova. The branding is not very intrusive below the 12 o’clock. The small date window is also at the tip of the 3 o’clock index which is fine by the way. The seconds sub-dial is also at the tip of 6 o’clock index. The most notable character of the watch is the undisturbed indices which is surprisingly cool. Then there is the nice sapphire domed crystal that completes the whole package. Speaking by experience, I know that when using one of these sapphire crystals, I don’t worry about scratches anymore as this is probably the hardest crystal there is. The dial is also available in 3 versions – Black Matt, White Matt, and Blue Sunray. The case is a closed 316L steel which gives us a nice water resistance rating of up to 5 ATM which is cool enough.

Furthermore, each Delone watch is powered by a Swiss Ronda 6004D movement that guarantees reliability and accuracy over time. What you’re really buying here is peace of mind as each Delone watch comes with 3 year warranty on all hardware components. Unlike mass produced watches, the Delone watches are designed to last a lifetime.

Finally, the Delone watches are available in 3 colors – Onyx Black, Natural White, and Midnight Blue and can be combined with a choice of different Italian leather straps (20 mm) with quick release feature for easy changing. In accordance with this first launch, supporters will also receive special Founders Limited Edition and an Earlybird Discount with free shipping anywhere in the world with an option of ordering a free Christmas Gift Card.
