Omega Speedmaster “Porsche Club of America” Limited Edition Watch

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of the Swiss brand Omega? Though there could be several different answers to this question, one the more prominent answer would most certainly be the Speedmaster. Similarly when one thinks about adrenaline pumping high-performance sports cars, the list is most likely incomplete without a Porsche in it. Recently the Porsche club of America, an organization of Porsche enthusiasts, collaborated with Omega and came up with a special version of the Speedmaster inspired by Porsche sports cars, called The Speedmaster “Porsche Club of America” limited edition. So without further ado, let’s have a look at what this watch has to offer.

Let’s start by talking a little about the case of this watch. The Omega Speedmaster “Porsche Club of America” features a large but familiar 44.25 mm ceramic case and is a nice mix of brushed and polished surfaces.  The case has a thickness of 16.24mm, and offers a water resistance of 50 metres which I feel is apt for a watch of this type. On top is a box shaped sapphire crystal which is held in place with the help of the polished ceramic bezel. The “Tachymetre” text on the bezel has been written in this vibrant yellow color which is reminiscent of the color on brake calipers of certain Porsche cars.

Being a special version of the Omega Speedmaster Grey side of the moon, this watch features the same textured gray color seen on the Grey side of the moon. Having seen the Grey Side of the Moon in the flesh I must admit that this dial does look stunning and one definitely has to see it in person to admire it. Having said that, the grey color tone is also somewhat muted, but the Porsche club limited edition that you see here does tackle that well through the Porsche inspired yellow color tone which can be seen on the hour and minute hands, the running second’s hand, the tip of the central chronograph hand to name a few. The yellow color does make the dial pop and also provides a great contrast to the grey background. The watch features a bicompax layout with two sub dials at 9 and 3 representing the running seconds and a combined 60minute and 12 hour counter respectively. There is also a nicely executed date window at 6 but I feel it should have been color matched to the grey color of the dial.

Powering this watch is Omega’s Co-Axial calibre 9300 automatic chronograph movement. This is a column wheel based movement and beats at 28800 vibrations per hour offering a power reserve of 60 hours courtesy of the two barrels. The movement has been beautifully decorated and can be viewed through the sapphire crystal exhibition case back which also features a the PCA logo printed in yellow signifying that this is a Porsche Club of America limited edition watch.

The Omega Speedmaster Porsche Club of America edition is a unique watch targeted towards the Porsche enthusiasts out there. And in case you really want to get your hands on one, better hurry up as the watch is limited to a production run of 99 pieces. The watch would come fitted on a nice racing style gray strap with a greenish tinge and yellow contrast stitching and would be sold exclusively via the PCA (Porsche Club of America) website at a retail price of US$ 12,911.
