Introducing: Seiko 5 Sports HUF Limited Edition SRPM09

The famous Time Sonar gets a vibrant second life with HUF’s signature green.

If you thought Seiko was done playing with its back catalog, think again. The brand is back at it with another collaboration, this time teaming up with HUF to bring some 1970s charm to the modern wrist; namely the Time Sonar-inspired Seiko 5 Sports HUF Limited Edition SRPM09.

The case stays away from the bulky dive bezels we usually see in the 5 Sports line. It is a cleaner, more streamlined piece of steel that measures 39.4mm x 11.6mm. These dimensions should make it sit pretty flat and easy on the wrist, which is a good call for a watch inspired by a brand founded by a pro skater. The finish is a mix of brushed and polished surfaces, and it comes with a standard push-pull crown. It keeps the 100m water resistance rating and on the back, you get a green-tinted window that shows off a San Francisco skyline graphic, which is a cool nod to HUF’s roots.

The dial is where most of the conversation happens. It uses semi-transparent green plastic that lets you see the day and date wheels rotating underneath. This “Time Sonar” style was a big deal decades ago because it made the watch look like a specialized tool from a submarine or a lab. The neon green is loud but consistent with the HUF brand colors. You have applied markers for the hours and an orange triangle at the top. That orange matches the seconds hand, providing a sharp contrast against the green background. It is a busy look, but it stays readable because the hands are filled with plenty of luminous material.

Seiko uses the in-house 4R36 movement inside. This is a known quantity for anyone who has spent time with the brand. Capable of automatic winding, plus hand winding when needed and hacking seconds are all there. Frequency is 21,600vph, and power reserve sits around 41 hours. It is not here to impress spec chasers, but rather here to do its job day in and day out.

The watch comes on a three-link stainless steel bracelet with a three-fold clasp and push-button release. It is a limited run of 7,000 pieces, which is a fairly large number for a special edition, but these collabs tend to disappear quickly among fans of the brand. It launches in March 2026 with a price tag of EUR 410.
