December 7th is a date that lives at the center of Glashütte. It is the day Ferdinand Adolph Lange began his work in 1845, and it is the day his great-grandson Walter Lange returned in 1990 to revive the family name. The brand has long treated this moment with reverence, which makes this release feel like the obvious continuation of the story. The new Lange 1 Daymatic Honeygold will join that lineage in a limited run of 250 pieces.
The case arrives in a wrist-friendly 39.5mm x 10.4mm proportion, and is crafted in Lange’s proprietary honey gold, known for its soft, warm glow. The lugs and bezel have been lightly reworked for a smoother fit, whereas the buckle is made out of honey gold as well. Earlier honey gold creations show that the brand tends to save this special gold for specific releases, so its appearance here follows that tradition.

The dial presents the signature mirrored layout of the Daymatic. Hours and minutes rest on the right, while the outsize date and subsidiary seconds balance the left side. The dial is deep brown 925 silver, with the date showing white numerals on a matching brown background. As a self-winding member of the Lange 1 family, it does not include a power reserve display. In its place is a retrograde day of the week indicator that sweeps along the left edge, a practical and quietly expressive detail that gives the Daymatic its name.

Turning the watch over reveals the Calibre L 021.1, an automatic movement with a 50-hour reserve when fully wound. The large central rotor is easy to spot, its inner segment in 21 karat gold engraved with the “A. Lange & Söhne” signature, and its outer mass made of 950 platinum. The movement contains 426 parts, assembled twice, and is finished with the familiar Lange hallmarks, from the hand-engraved balance cock to the screwed gold chatons.

The watch is paired with a matching brown taupe alligator strap and a Honeygold buckle that completes the look with quiet restraint. Pricing is available on request, and expectations place it in line with earlier Honeygold editions.
