Introducing The Longines Spirit Zulu Time 1925 Watch

Longines lands a centennial throwback with the Spirit Zulu Time 1925, a GMT that walks the Prime line.

To mark a full century since its pioneering dual time wristwatch from 1925, Longines has dropped the Spirit Zulu Time 1925, a nod to aviation heritage with a splash of modern finery. Drawing its name from the military’s use of “Zulu Time” for UTC, this release revives the jet-set practicality of its forebear with a few present day trimmings.

The stainless steel case measures 39mm x 13.50mm, putting it smack in the sweet spot for everyday wear. It’s nothing outrageously ornate, but what raises eyebrows is the bidirectional bezel.

For the first time in the Spirit Zulu Time line, it’s adorned with a circular-brushed insert made of 18 carat rose gold, a quiet nod to the copper strip marking the Prime Meridian in Greenwich.

The matte black dial features rose gold colored hands and hour markers, all coated in white Super-LumiNova that glows blue in the dark. A black GMT hand with a rose gold tip tracks the 24 hour scale, while a discreet date window sits below the five-star motif near 6 o’clock. Just beneath, the years “1925 – 2025” are engraved in a subtle tone-on-tone finish.

Sloggering inside is the in-house Calibre L844.4 COSC certified movement beating at 25,200vph, delivering a 72 hour power reserve and shrugging off magnetic fields up to ten times the ISO 764 benchmark. Its silicon balance spring works in tandem with a rose-gold-hued PVD rotor, engraved with a planisphere split by the Prime Meridian.

The watch is bundled with both a stainless steel bracelet featuring a double folding clasp and a black NATO strap with a pin buckle. It arrives in a special edition box and retails for €4,550 or $4,350.
