Introducing The New Tudor Pelagos FXD Chrono “Yellow” Watch

Tudor's newest watch marks their pro cycling team involvement in the most prestigious cycling race.

You might remember that a little while ago, Tudor paid tribute to Italy’s premier cycling race, the Giro d’Italia, with a pink-themed version of their Pelagos FXD Chrono. Well, Tudor hasn’t forgotten about cycle racing and has come up with a yellow-themed version of the Pelagos FXD Chrono. For those of you into your bike racing, you’ll know that this colour can signify only one cycling event, the most prestigious one of them all: the Tour de France.

It’s funny how things go in life. In the last eight months or so, I’ve begun teaching myself to DJ in my bedroom. I wouldn’t say I’m amazing, but I can string a few tunes together comfortably. My favourite genre to play at the moment is techno, which is relatively fast and heavy on beats while lighter on melodies (sometimes, not always). I’ve also been a fan of electronic music for basically all of my life at this point, and the other week I was able to see one of the pioneering acts in the genre (and of early techno music): Kraftwerk. I mention this because while I was loving every moment of my show experience in the Milton Keynes Bowl, I was also learning new Kraftwerk tracks I’d not heard before, one of them coincidentally being called Tour de France. That one stuck with me on the journey home, so it was quite a surprise when I got an email from Tudor’s press team not a week later telling me they’ve made a watch about the Tour de France. Is this some kind of cosmic sign?

Tudor’s watch, the Pelagos FXD Chronograph “Yellow”, is exactly the same as the “Pink” model from the other month, barring the colour choices. Even the caseback is more or less the same, except the number of cyclists on it has changed. It would be cool if they had somehow managed to use the Kraftwerk album’s cover outline as a small nod, maybe the folks at Tudor aren’t into that kind of music.

The watch has a 43.0mm x 13.2mm carbon composite case with 100m of water resistance. It also has fixed bars across its lugs, rather than spring bars (hence the FXD in the name), meaning you are a little more limited with your strap choices.

With that said, the black and yellow fabric strap supplied with the watch looks great on it. Inside the case is the calibre MT5813 which is based on Breitling’s B01 calibre. That means the watch has a 4Hz beat rate and a 70-hour power reserve, and it’s also graced by a column wheel and a vertical clutch for super smooth, judder-free operation.

This new watch, celebrating the Tour de France, is limited to 300 examples worldwide and is priced at $5,600 before taxes. We at WristReview wish the Tudor Pro Cycling Team the very best of luck in the Tour de France!
