Version Watches continues to build its own take on contemporary watch design.

When Paris-based Version Watches landed on the horology scene, founders Cybèle Vigneron and Carla Lanfranchini immediately stood out by skipping the usual cookie-cutter microbrand playbook in favor of an architectural design approach.

Cybèle Vigneron CEO, Carla Lanfranchini Head of Design & V01 – LCC Tempête

Their first watch, V01-LCC, set a strong foundation by taking inspiration from vintage automobiles and structural grids, using clever semi-opaque dial layering to hint at the mechanics underneath rather than just ripping off the dial face to reveal a messy skeletonized movement.

For their follow-up collection, the V0201-TH, the duo is trading automotive themes and ground-level architecture for high-altitude flight. The design language takes inspiration from the golden age of supersonic aviation, Concorde silhouettes, jet engine turbines, and the interior of the Concorde jet cabin by designer Andrée Putman.

The new V0201-TH comes in a 316L stainless steel case measuring 38mm x 12mm, while the finishing keeps things classic with a mix of brushed surfaces and polished chamfers. The bezel features a deep, engraved beaded pattern designed to mimic the swirling look of jet turbine blades, and this continues to the crown, which also has a colored cabochon gemstone set to match the different dial variations.

The watch offers 50 meters of water resistance, while the case keeps things relatively simple, with clean lines and restrained proportions that give it a quiet presence on the wrist without taking attention away from the dial.

The lower half uses a satin-white finish, while the upper half is covered by a tinted, translucent panel, all beneath a domed sapphire crystal that adds another layer to the watch’s distinctive visual character. In normal lighting, the contrast between the two sections reads as a straightforward two-tone design. When light passes through from behind, however, it becomes transparent enough to reveal the movement beneath, bringing the mechanical components into view. The hands are designed to complement this layered construction, while a railway-style minute track runs around the dial, framing the display and reinforcing its vintage cockpit-instrument influence.

Version Watches is offering the watch in three distinct colorways:

Crépuscule (Emerald Green), Aurore (Blood Orange) & Ciel (Azure Blue)

Powering the watch is the Sellita SW200-1 AJ openwork, delivering a dependable 28,800 vph (4Hz) and a 41-hour power reserve. An open sapphire caseback lets you watch the movement run, with an engraved rotor adding another branded detail to the mechanical view.

The watch comes on a grained calfskin leather strap with a quick-release system, making it easy to swap straps without tools. The strap colors are matched to the three dial versions, with each combination designed to keep the watch looking cohesive rather than making the strap compete with the rest of the watch.
