Introducing Ressence Type 8 DE1 And DE2 Watches

Ressence rewires the rules with a colorstorm of tech and art.

For 2025, Ressence has taken a left turn and it’s a colorful one. Say hello to the new Ressence Type 8 DE1 and DE2, two limited edition takes on the brand’s “entry level” model, dressed up in the optical mind games of German artist Daniel Engelberg.

Dimensions land at 42.9mm x 11mm, crafted from grade 5 titanium with alternating polished and matte textures. The domed sapphire crystal softens the look and gives the dial some visual depth. Just don’t get too splash happy, water resistance is a measly 1 ATM.

Under the hood (and the dome), these are your typical Type 8s, time-only, no date, no seconds and no hands in a conventional sense. Ressence’s signature Orbital Convex System (ROCS) replaces all that with a system of rotating discs, where the minutes are tracked by a large central disc and the hours by a smaller one that glides around off-center.

The main difference between the two versions lies in their outer fixed minute tracks and straps. The DE1 leans into warm tones with red and pink accents (plus a pale pink rubber strap), while the DE2 goes cooler in turquoise shades that echo the tones of its rotating minutes disc. Both models come on rubber straps in their respective colorways, plus an additional blue alligator leather strap.

Mechanically, they’re powered by the ever-reliable ETA 2892, though heavily modified to drive the ROCS 8 module. That extra energy draw does eat into the power reserve a bit, down to around 36 hours.

Only 40 pieces of each colorway, the DE1 and DE2, are priced at $22,500 USD each.
