SIHH 2017: Montblanc TimeWalker Watch Collection (Live Pics)

By Keith Bombrys

Most people don’t know that Montblanc originally made its start as a fountain pen company. For decades, the company embroidered and embossed their famous white star emblem on pens. For over a century, the company manufactured high-end writing instruments in Germany. Montblanc even dabbled in manufacturing leathergoods, jewelry, and eyewear. All of this changed in 1997 when the company began manufacturing and creating their own high-end watches; Montblanc entered the world of horology. Today, the company has become one of the most formidable watch making companies in the world.

Montblanc TimeWalker Automatic Chronograph UTC

The sheer simplicity and beauty of this piece is unbelievable as well as the overall performance of the piece. This chronograph is pure black, stainless steel, has a 43mm case, and is water-resistant up to 100 meters. The piece comes with both a leather and a rubber strap. Both are very stylish and match the chronograph very well. Which one the wearer chooses is really up to when and where the piece will be worn. Whether at the most elegant of places or while driving your favorite sports car or motorcycle, this piece is very fitting for any occasion. The piece has a 24-hour scale surrounding the outside of the bezel. The bezel can be moved bidirectionally so that the wearer can view another time zone. The color contrast of this piece between the black and the white with the subtle shots of red mixed in really enhance the readability and the look of the piece. The date is displayed at 3 o’clock. The hours, seconds and minutes timers can be found on the piece at 6 o’clock, 9 o’clock, and 12 o’clock respectively.

Montblanc TimeWalker Chronograph Automatic

Montblanc really has a way of catching the attention of the viewers with their stunning pieces. The TimeWalker Chronograph Automatic features dynamic performance as well as amazing contrasts of colors on the face and the body of the piece. The date is displayed at 3 o’clock and the minutes, seconds, and hours timers are displayed at 6 o’clock, 9 o’clock, and 12 o’clock respectively. This piece is very similar to the Montblanc TimeWalker Automatic Chronograph UTC but has its own subtle differences. Both pieces display 2, 4, 8, and 10 on their face as opposed to the standard 12, 3, 6, and 9 that most watches and clocks may display on their face. The Chronograph Automatic has more contrasting white on the face and in the piece, especially on the body, as opposed to the TimeWalker Automatic Chronograph UTC.

Montblanc TimeWalker Date Automatic

Behold, the time has come, finally a watch with a sharp appearance and a very ruggish style. The Monteblanc TimeWalker Date Automatic is built to perform and has the stylish good looks to be shown in even the most prim and proper of places. This piece is very reminiscent of Minerva style stopwatches that were made and produced in the early 20th century. The primary display of this piece is the showing of the time on the stopwatch. The three hands of the watch are present and operate around the stopwatch display, but the timepiece’s numbers can be found on the bezel of the watch. The art of placing the display numbers on the outside of the watch and having the stopwatch numbers on the face of the watch creates an illusion to the wearer that they are wearing a stopwatch around their wrist instead of a watch. The piece itself has a very sleek silver finish to it and resembles a compass. The date can be found at 3 o’clock (or 15 at the stopwatch). The bezel can be turned unidirectionally for those who want to tell the time in two different time zones and is knurled on the sides to give the wearer a better grip. The piece is 41mm, is water resistant up to 100m, and made of stainless steel to give this piece a wide array of uses.

Montblanc TimeWalker Automatic Chronograph 1000 Limited Edition

This watch was originally designed for the purpose of measuring time up to 1/1000th of a second which until Montblanc accomplished this with the TimeWalker Chronograph 1000 Limited Edition. This piece’s design is inspired by motorsport which is evident all across the face of the watch. The 1/1000 stopwatch meter at 12 o’clock resembles a speedometer found in a vintage car. The dial itself pays tribute to a modern-day car speedometer. The crown is knurled in the representation of the tires of a race car. The visible 18000 oscillations of the piece that are visible between 8 o’clock  and 10 o’clock give the wearer a sneak preview “under the hood” of the watch. The black alligator-skin strap with the red-lined holes and stitching give the piece a modern day spark that represents today’s sport car interiors. For more info, please visit montblanc.com
