Concord has recently updated their C1 Chronograph range with a new look for 2013, it brings back some of the design from the first C1 that debuted in 2008. Another thing that the new C1 has incommon with the previous models is that it has ramained untouched when it comes to the case size which is still 44mm, but the design gives us a more reserved look, now featuring a slimmer crown and a more ergonomic case shape and some other improvements.
The C1 has a A07 movement, which is pretty much the same as a Valjoux 7750, which is one of the most famous chronograph movements. The C1 is equipped with a anti-reflective sapphire crystal and the bezel is made from either titanium or ceramic, depending on the specific model.
The design is very much like that of an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore. Right? While I would agree with many others out there that this new C1 is more attractive than the previous models, thanks to a smaller crown and fresh design. If I’ll be honest, the first generation do not give us a premium impression. Concord has yet to announce a price for the new C1, we can count that they will announce it at BaselWorld this April.
Concord, a brand known for their cool designs, I think they should find some more inspiration from their self rather to have a collection which consists of highly similarities from Audemars Piguet. Don´t get me wrong, I am not saying that they are copying the design from AP. Just that they are very similar in the design language.
Overall, the new C1 from Concord got my attention, it is shy while being distinctive.
I could easily be pleased to show it off, on my wrist at finer events.
