Introducing: Rexhep Rexhepi Chronograph Flyback RRCHF

Rexhep Rexhepi just put a flyback chronograph into a 38.8mm case to show everyone how it is actually done.

Rexhep Rexhepi has finally decided to tackle the flyback chronograph, and honestly, it was about time. While the industry usually waits for him to drop another three-hand watch with perfect finishing, he decided to complicate things with the RRCHF. It is his first go at an integrated flyback, and it confirms that he’s not solely focused on fancy dial work.

The case measures a sensible 38.8mm x 9.7mm size profile, which is impressive when you consider over 300 parts are working in cohesion inside. He went with a double stepped bezel and lugs that have some serious sharp angles to them, giving it a bit of a mid-century vibe. It is available in either platinum or rose gold, and both versions use a case built from 52 individual pieces. Rexhep also made sure the screw-down caseback aligns perfectly every time you tighten it, which is a small but confident bit of engineering.

The dial has a busy but organized layout where you get the hours and minutes up at 12 o’clock, while the small seconds sit at 8 o’clock. The star of the show is the instantaneous jumping minute counter at 4 o’clock, which makes reading the chronograph much easier than a standard sweeping hand. The platinum model gets a stormy blue enamel dial, while the rose gold version goes with black enamel. Both have these smoked sapphire subdials that let you see a bit of the mechanical work happening underneath. The hands are steel, but they are heat-treated to a straw-yellow or coppery tone, depending on which one you pick.

The movement is a manually wound calibre RRCHF with a column wheel and a lateral clutch, which is the traditional way to build a high-grade chronograph. It runs at 3Hz and holds about 72 hours of power. Instead of using a modular setup, which would have made the watch bulky, Rexhep built this from the ground up as one integrated unit. The finishing is standard for him, meaning you get plenty of hand-applied anglage and black polishing on the steel parts.

To wrap things up, the watch comes fitted on a nubuck calfskin strap with Norwegian center stitching, made in-house. You can expect to pay CHF 150000 for either the platinum or the rose gold version.
