Citizen, renowned for their affordable quartz and Eco-Drive watches, surprised watch enthusiasts in 2021 with the Caliber 0200. This luxury mechanical offering, a collaboration with La Joux-Perret, garnered praise for its design and craftsmanship. Now, Citizen returns with the Caliber 0210, adding refinements and aiming to further solidify its presence in the competitive mechanical watch market.

At 40mm x 11.2mm, the Caliber 0210 retains the original’s tonneau-shaped case with sharp angles, brushed and polished surfaces and polished accents. While retaining its sporty character, the case thickness increases slightly to accommodate the new date complication. The raised bezel exudes ruggedness, while the most significant upgrade is the jump from 50m to 100m water resistance.

The dial has a charming black sand-ripple texture, or a serene white cloud texture evoking a sense of ethereal calm. With Faceted applied markers and a striped pattern, both offer a unique depth and dynamism. The small seconds counter at 6 o’clock has a subtle concentric pattern. The date window at 3 o’clock, seamlessly blends thanks to its recessed design.

The Calibre 0210 movement, an improved version of its predecessor built in-house with La Joux-Perret’s assistance, has a 60-hour power reserve, surpassing chronometer-level accuracy of -3 to +5 seconds per day, and 28,800 vibrations per hour. The sapphire caseback reveals the exquisite finishing of the movement’s base, which includes diamond-cut bevels and polished countersinks.

The watch has an integrated stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp. The Calibre 0210 costs EUR 8,500 and is slated to hit European markets in late summer 2024.
