MeisterSinger Lunascope “Golden Moon” Edition Watch

BY JOVAN KRSTEVSKI

Meistersinger is well known for producing single-handed watches that take a relaxed approach towards timekeeping. While a niche concept, the brand has done a great job of keeping its watch collection refreshed and updated to catch up with the changing market trends. Launched during Baselworld 2018 the Lunascope was the brands first ever moon phase watch and now the new for 2019 Lunascope Golden Moon edition brings an extra touch of warmth and elegance to the romantic complication.

The center of attraction on this watch is the nicely scalloped moon phase display that covers the entire expanse of the upper section of the dial. The display not only gives the dial a good sense of depth but at the same time also gives a great view of the golden colored moon which looks quite stunning and realistic. The dial has been rendered in a nice deep shade of blue and provides a great contrast to the various golden elements which include applied Arabic numerals, the border of the circular date window at 6 and of course the textured moon. Time can be read using the centrally mounted tapering single hand which has been presented in white color to match the rest of the text on the watch.

The case on the Meistersinger Lunascope is made from stainless steel and measures a modest 40mm in diameter, which along with the slightly downward curving lugs should make it sit comfortably on a variety of wrists. A sapphire crystal sits on top of the case and is held in place with a relatively thin bezel which leads to a larger dial opening in turn providing more real estate for the wearer’s eyes to enjoy. The case back also gets a transparent treatment and gives a nice view of the mechanical internals that drive the watch. The case is water resistant to only 50 meters which is apt for a watch of this type.

Powering this watch is an automatic ETA 2836-2 movement which has been modified by Meistersinger to add their own moon phase module, which as per the brand is quite accurate and would require manual intervention only after 128 years. The movement operates at a frequency of 4Hz and offers a power reserve of around 38 hours. It has been nicely decorated and features a custom decorated rotor with Geneva stripes and Meistersinger branding.

The Meistersinger Lunascope Golden Moon is yet another elegant offering from the German brand. The watch would retail at a price of EUR 2,990 and would be made available to purchase on a variety of strap options which include a couple of leather straps and a Milanese mesh bracelet.
