Mido updates the handsome Multifort 8 Two Crowns range with a new piece in PVD rose gold.

Mido sits at the affordable end of the Swatch Group’s hierarchy of brands, competing with brands like Rado, Tissot, and Hamilton. Don’t let the thought of a conglomerate like the Swatch Group owning Mido put you off. Mido’s watches are sought after because of their strong value for money offering, and our comments sections on Mido articles often reflect this. We follow up the mid-2025 release of the Multifort 8 Two Crowns in blue with this new offering in black and PVD rose gold.

The Multifort 8 Two Crowns is a handsome watch to look at. Some folks have pointed out in the comments section of our previous article that it looks like a cross between an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and a Girard-Perregaux Laureato, and you know what? It does. At this point, so many watches going for the “integrated bracelet” look appear to be so similar that I might as well not bother getting uppity about it. The Multifort 8 Two Crowns is still a good-looking watch, especially in the PVD rose gold and black form seen here.

The stainless steel case measures 40.0mm x 9.5mm, and it offers 100m of water resistance. PVD is an acronym of Physical Vapour Deposition, the method used to apply the rose gold colouration to the case. A sapphire crystal with antireflective coating on both sides sits above the clean black dial with horizontal lines and white markers, which have SuperLumiNova in them to be visible at night, as do the rose gold-coloured hands. The twin crowns are what give the watch its name; the one at 2 o’clock controls the inner rotating bezel, while the one at 4 o’clock is used to wind the movement and set the time and date.

Another sapphire crystal is placed on the back of the watch to allow a view of the self-winding Calibre 72. If you do a little digging, you’ll find that the Calibre 72 is based on the ETA calibre A31.111. And if you do a little more digging, you’ll find that the A31.111 started its life as the ETA 2892 before being modernised, and if you dig further than that, you’ll dig through to the dial. This movement operates at 3.5Hz for 72 hours and features a Nivachron hairspring for enhanced magnetic resistance and shock resistance.

Featuring a black rubber strap with a quick-change system and a PVD rose gold pin buckle, this new Multifort 8 Two Crowns from Mido can be yours for CHF1,150.
