Introducing The Patek Philippe Ref. 5370P-011 Split-Seconds Chronograph Watch

BY JOVAN KRSTEVSKI

Patek Phillippe has recently introduced 3 new Grand complication watches as a part of its 2020 novelties and one among them is the Patek Philippe Reference 5370P-011 in blue. Featuring a stunning blue enamel dial and a redesigned rattrapante mechanism, this new watch is a successor to the black dial version of the 5370P from 2015.

When it was released in 2015, the 5370 was regarded as one of the Best Patek’s to have come out in many years. This new 2020 reference keeps the basic formula of the elder sibling intact bringing in a few noteworthy updates. The biggest change that immediately grabs attention is the beautiful blue enamel dial. Made using the Grand Feu technique the dial is kiln-fired to high temperatures multiple times to achieve this deep rich shade of blue that looks more vibrant than the previous black dial and provides excellent contrast against the applied white gold numerals and hands. Speaking of the hands, the hour and minute hands along with hands on the two sub-registers are leaf-shaped whereas the two chronographs hands have a tapering stick style design. All hands are perfectly proportioned and make it a breeze to read the time and other information.

The case on the watch is made of Platinum and measures 41mm in diameter making for a very modern and manageable size. Furthermore, a height of just 13.5mm means that the watch would sit comfortably on a wide variety of wrists. The case features a nice mix of polished and brushed surfaces that have been executed to a very high quality as expected from a brand like Patek. The case has sapphire crystals on both front as well as the back and is water-resistant to just 30 meters.

At the helm of the new 5370P-011 is the brand’s in-house calibre CHR 29-535 PS. This is a highly capable manually wound movement that features a horizontal clutch, a dial column-wheel mechanism.  And has 6 patents to its name. It operates at a frequency of 4Hz and offers a power reserve of around 65 hours when fully wound. And while it has all the technical chops, it is also a real beauty to look at. You get everything from Geneva stripes to hand beveled and polished edges for your visual pleasure.

The new Patek Philippe 5370P-011 would come attached to a matching blue alligator strap and would retail for EUR 238,680.
