Christmas comes early for horological purists with the launch of these two timepieces.

By now, it’s not a secret that Patek Philippe has launched a great bunch of timepieces recently, and yes eight of them at the same time. But no other watch from that launch cycle truly qualifies to be deemed as a “timepiece” much more than the two that are under discussion today. These two timepieces are Patek Philippe 5204G Grand Complication and the 5935A World Time Flyback Chronograph, the two timepieces that are brimming with potent horology due to their numerous grand complications. Make no mistake, the other watches from the launch are timepieces in their own right but 5204G and 5935A truly takes the cake for being timelessly classy and horologically sophisticated. Let’s now dig out fangs into them.

The 5935A World Time Flyback Chronograph

As the name suggests, the 5935A has World Timer and Flyback Chronograph complications. The world timer is a function designed to make it easier to read the time in all (main) time zones at a glance, not simply the time in a secondary timezone. This complication is more helpful now than ever in a world that is getting smaller all the time, especially useful in conjunction with the ease of a flyback chronograph. Presented in a steel case measuring 41mm x 12.75mm, the dial is of Rose gilt color with carbon motif. The gold-applied charcoal gray indices are present on the innermost ring and are applied with lume. The automatic movement CH 28-520 HU powers the timepiece, beating at 28,800 vph and offering a 55 hours power reserve. The water resistance is 30 meters. The timepiece comes on a leather strap with two options available, grained taupe and beige nubuck. It has a price tag of $63,870.

The 5204G Grand Complication

This one also true to its name, boasts four complications (depending on your point of view), namely the Split-seconds chronograph, perpetual calendar, moonphase and small seconds. This one is made in white gold, measuring 40mm x 14.3mm with 30 meters of water resistance. The olive green dial has a sunburst effect, the indices are applied with gold and has luminous hands and markers. The caliber CHR 29‑535 PS Q powers the model 5204G, an automatic winding movement beating at 28,800 vph and offering 65 hours of power reserve. It comes on a matching olive green calfskin with a fold-over clasp and an MSRP of $315,810.
