Bronze has become a popular choice of material for watch cases over the years and there is a very good reason for it. First of all, it looks refreshingly different as compared to anything else out there, but more than that its real beauty lies in the way it ages resulting in a unique patina depending upon its usage. For Baselworld 2019 Meistersinger has introduced three new bronze variants of its popular models the No.3 Perigraph and Metris.
The Metris is characterized by its distinctive faceted angular case construction. The case is modestly sized with a diameter of 38mm which should make them sit comfortably on a variety of wrists. The dial has been presented in a bluish green shade with a sunburst finish and provides a nice contrast against the warm color tone of the bronze case. As for the layout, there are printed double-digit numerals for hours and the minute track is a mix of printed hash marks and dart-shaped markings which have also been highlighted in red at 12, 3, 6 and 9. Time can be read using the tapering single hand with a red tip and there is a magnified date window at 6 for date lovers. Powering this watch is a Swiss automatic ETA-2824 or a Sellita SW200-1 movement which can be viewed through the sapphire crystal glass back. It is also worth noting that the Metris is water resistant to 200 meters making it a capable casual/sports watch.
There are two watches from the Perigraph range which get the bronze treatment. The cases on both watches have a usual circular shape with a relatively large diameter of 43mm. Unlike the Metris, the Perigraph models are water resistant to only 50 meters but they still have the exhibition case back to view the ETA 2824-2 or Sellita SW200-1 movements powering these watches. On the dial front, you still have printed Arabic numerals in old radium color on top of a blur sunburst dial, but with a slightly different date implementation as compared to the Metris. One version has an exposed date wheel with a red pointer indicating the current date whereas the other version has a small circular date window above the 6 o’clock position.
All the three watches would come equipped with a dark brown calf leather strap with a bronze buckle. Prices have not yet been announced but hover around the EUR 2000 mark.
