TAG Heuer celebrates the 60th anniversary of its iconic Carrera with the release of two 39mm three-register chronographs, the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph 39mm “Glassbox”. These non-limited edition watches are available in all blue or black with silver sub-dials, and feature applied markers for the hours and printed indexes for the minutes/chronographs seconds.
The tachymeter scale encircles the dial and the sub-dials sit at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions. The date function is located at 6 o’clock on the blue dial and at 12 o’clock on the black and silver.
The title “Glassbox” literally states that these Carrera watches have large domed sapphire crystals, inspired by the domed hesalite crystals of the 1970s Carreras. The inward turning, faceted lugs and the profile, pushers, and crown are from the modern era of the line. The 33 jewels automatic caliber TH20-00 powers the watch, the newest iteration of the caliber Heuer 02. It offers a bi-directional winding, an 80-hour power reserve, column-wheel actuation, and a frequency of 28,800 bph.
The Carrera Chronograph 39mm is priced at 6,300 CHF and will be available in April. The larger 42mm version with a tourbillon utilizes the Caliber TH20-09, which features a tourbillon at the six positions and is chronometer-certified, priced at 23,500 CHF.
