Officine Panerai unveils its new Special Edition watch – the Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic Ceramica watch. It is created for those fascinated by the complete darkness in the depths of the sea. The novelty boasts a matt ceramic case that accommodates P.9000 manufacture movement and the characteristics reflecting the historic heritage of the brand.
The new Panerai watch features a Luminor 1950 case incorporating a black ceramic bridge that protects and seals the winding crown. The case is sculptured from sandblasted black ceramicsynthesized from zirconium oxide powder. This material is highly appreciated by watchmakers for its remarkable lightness and toughness as well as its resistance to scratches, corrosive agents and high temperatures.
The 47mm-in-diameter case demonstrates a classic Panerai shape born as a result of sophisticated working and finishing operations, due to which it has also acquired a particularly uniform, smooth matt look.
The same matt ceramic has been used for the unidirectional rotating bezel necessary for measuring the length of the dive. The profound black of the case and dial creates a distinctive contrast to the ecru Super-LumiNova that coats the applied hour markers, graduated scale and partially skeletonized hands. The signature Panerai small seconds dial is found at 9 o’clock. You will notice the date window at 3 o’clock.
The face of the new Panerai watch is shielded by a sapphire crystal made of corundum and is 4 mm thick. It is provided with anti-reflective coating. The case-construction incorporates a titanium back coated in black. The middle of the case-back is engraved with a S.L.C. torpedo.
The heart of the Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic Ceramica watch is a hand-wound mechanical movement – calibre P.9000. The movement was independently developed and executed in the Panerai manufacture located in Neuchatel.
The 197-component, 28-jewel movement, beating at a frequency of 28,800 alternations per hour, with a variable inertia balance and Incabloc anti-shock protection, impresses by the precision of its construction. The mechanism is built with two spring barrels constantly wound by a weight oscillating in both directions, offering a 3-day power reserve. It also boasts a convenient system for adjusting the hour hand – it can be moved forward or backwards in steps of precisely one hour, simultaneously changing the date.
The new Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic Ceramica watch is coupled with a Panerai personalized black calf leather strap equipped with a big trapezoid buckle in brushed titanium coated in black.
The timepiece is 300-meter water-resistant. It belongs to a limited edition of 1,000 pieces.
