Breitling has really hit it out of the park with the latest addition to their Avenger line of wristwatches, The Breitling Avenger Blackbird Titanium Time. Decked in black with an enormous 48mm case, the Avenger Blackbird is definitely not for the faint of heart. This version of the Avenger makes up for its enormous measurements with a slimmer case and more ergonomic profile making the watch sit much more comfortably on the wrist. This is also achieved by the implementation of inward curving lugs and the use of titanium in the case construction making it feel a lot lighter than first expected. Along with the military-style fabric strap, the watch itself encapsulates the feel of a lightweight ergonomic wristwatch with the look and stature of a heavyweight.
Like with all Avenger wristwatches, the Avenger Blackbird doesn’t shy away from its heritage and uses the same large, bold and oversized hands with hour and minute-markers making the watch extremely legible in all situations. This is also experienced with the inclusion of a luminescent coating on all the important aspects of the wristwatch to make night time legibility a non-issue. This luminescence is enhanced even further with the all black design of the watch meaning that no matter how dark the location, your watch will definitely glow in the dark!
The heart-beat of the Breitling Avenger Blackbird is the Breitling Caliber 17 self-winding high frequency movement with calendar function at 3 o’clock. The dial is incased in a cambered sapphire crystal with anti-reflective glair on both sides and has a water resistance rating of 300m (1000ft).
Overall, Breitling Avenger Blackbird is a daring new introduction to the already impressive Avenger line of wristwatches. With the use of titanium materials with an entirely black case, dial and strap, it really stands out on its own and brings a much tougher appearance whilst still maintaining its impressive functionality.
