In a world where versatile everyday sports watches have become the hottest trend, dress watches seem to be facing an identity crisis. That said, nothing can beat the elegant charm of an understated dress watch when it comes down to those formal suit and tie events, and the new Carl F. Bucherer Adamavi Full Calendar watches look like a great fit for such situations.

Machined from stainless steel, the case measures 39mm in diameter and has a thickness of just 10.1mm, which implies that this watch would easily glide under those cuffs. The case is fully polished and features an elegant rounded shape with a domed bezel and downward curving lugs for better wrist comfort. Interestingly, the lug structure varies slightly between the strap and bracelet variants, with the latter featuring wider lugs that flow seamlessly into the tapering beads- of- rice bracelet to give the watch a distinctive visual appeal. There is a grippy signed crown at the 3 O’clock position that takes care of general timekeeping, whereas the calendar functions can be set using the inset pushers on the sides. The case offers a water resistance of just 30 meters, which is typical of watches of this style.

To offer a nice contrast to the polished case, the Adamavi Calendar watches come equipped with vertically brushed dials, presented in silver and black. Applied three-dimensional golden indices along with the graceful golden hands add a sense of warmth to the dial. The calendar complication has been executed neatly without compromising on the legibility of the watch. On the inside is a chapter ring that features nice circular graining and has the dates printed on it. The date can be read using a pointer-style hand. Underneath the double marker at 12 are two windows that display the day of the week and the month of the year. And finally, at the 6 o’clock position is a romantic moon-phase complication that shows a golden moon moving across a blue starry night.

The driving force behind these watches is the calibre 1966. This is a heavily modified ETA 2892 movement that has a Dubois Depraz calendar module on top. It ticks at 4 Hz and offers a power reserve of around 42 hours when fully wound. The movement can be enjoyed through the sapphire case back.

The new Carl F. Bucherer Adamavi watches can be purchased on a blue or black alligator strap for EUR 2,650 and the bracelet for EUR 3,350.
