Introducing The Glashütte Original SeaQ Panorama Date Bi-color And Red Gold Watches

BY JOVAN KRSTEVSKI

Last year Glashütte Original introduced its vintage-inspired Spezialist SeaQ watch collection. Initially launched in steel the brand has now given the SeaQ collection a precious metal treatment with the addition of two new SeaQ Panorama date watches that blend the practicality of a dive watch with the warmth and allure of red gold.

The SeaQ Panorama date offers a modern take on the brand’s Spezimatic Type RP TS200 reference from 1969, and the new 2020 versions keep the contemporary vibe intact with a few noteworthy differences. Presented in a new sunburst grey or black, the dial is still characterized by the bold applied Arabic numerals and batons that constitute the hour markers. But unlike the existing versions, the indices as well as the hands on these watches have been fashioned out of Red gold that provides the dial an additional sense of warmth. Apart from this, the rest of the dial remains the same with a printed white minute track, generous application of lume on both hands and indices, and Glashütte Original’s signature big date display at 4.

Measuring 43.2mm in diameter and having a height of 15.65, the case on these new watches remains similar in both dimensions and shape to last year’s release. But just like the dial, the case does see the precious metal influence. The silver dial version sticks to a stainless-steel construction for the most part except for the bezel grip and crown that are made of solid gold. The black dial variant gets a more comprehensive update with the entire case being crafted from Red gold. The case on both watches is still water-resistant to 300 meters and features a uni-directional dive time bezel with a black ceramic insert.

Powering these watches is Glashütte Original’s in-house caliber 36-13. An automatic movement the 36-13 operates at a frequency of 4 Hz, comprises 39 jewels, and provides an autonomy of around 100 hours when fully wound. The movement is a sight to behold and has been tastefully decorated using Glashütte stripes, blued screws, and a skeletonized rotor with a 21 ct gold oscillating weight.

The new Glashütte Original SeaQ Panorama Date 2020 watches would come attached to either a high-quality black rubber strap or a grey nylon strap. The steel and gold variant would retail for EUR 14,500, whereas the full gold variant would cost EUR 24,500.
