Strong, light, and innovative – A Silicon Nitride ceramic beast

The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M is a popular dive watch collection that was first launched in 2005. The collection is known for its robust case construction, water resistance, and high-performance movements. In 2015, Omega introduced the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M Deep Black GMT, which featured a black ceramic case and a GMT complication. Upping the ante, the new Dark Grey GMT version takes this legacy to a new level of sophistication with its monochromatic elegance.

The watch’s 45.5mm diameter and 17.4mm height are impressive figures, but what truly sets this model apart is the use of silicon nitride ceramic [Si3N4] for its case. This innovative material is remarkably lightweight, yet incredibly robust and it’s often used in aerospace and medical applications. Omega combines this dark grey ceramic with grade 5 titanium for the bezel body, crown, helium valve, and clasp. This results in a timepiece that weighs just 107 grams, making it significantly lighter than steel counterparts. Also fitted with a unidirectional rotating bezel with a 60-minute scale and a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. The caseback is also made of sapphire crystal and features a NAIAD LOCK system for exceptional water resistance.

The sandblasted titanium dial perfectly complements the dark grey theme of the watch. Anthracite-coated hands and indexes, filled with Super-Luminova for exceptional legibility. The 24-hour inner bezel allows for tracking an additional time zone, catering to the needs of globe-trotting watch enthusiasts. The subtle use of orange accents on the dial and hands adds a dash of personality.

The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M Dark Grey GMT is powered by the Omega Caliber 8906 Ti, which is a Master Chronometer-certified automatic movement. The movement features a co-axial escapement, two barrels, and a power reserve of 60 hours. It is also resistant to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss.

The watch is comfortably secured to your wrist with an integrated rubber strap featuring a grey textile inlay and white stitching. A grade 5 titanium folding clasp completes the ensemble. The watch comes with a price tag of USD 22,200/EUR 24,500.
