Louis Vuitton Unveils The Voyager Skeleton Watch

A masterful blend of minimalism and luxury.

Louis Vuitton is a brand known for its luxurious and high-end lifestyle products and watches, and it has now expanded its presence in the world of serious watchmaking with the release of the new Voyager Skeleton timepiece. This open-worked watch highlights Louis Vuitton’s expertise in skeletonized movements and design language in a minimalist and unexpectedly beautiful design.

The Voyager Skeleton’s case is the first thing that catches the eye. With an ovoid form and a sloping, flat bezel, the case is distinctive in its 41mm x 9.1mm size, specifically created for this particular model. Made from platinum, the case is also water-resistant up to 50 meters. The caseback is transparent, allowing a view of the skeletonized movement within. The Voyager Skeleton shares the case design of the Flying Tourbillon Poinçon de Genève, another Louis Vuitton masterpiece.

The dial of the Voyager Skeleton is just as remarkable as the case. The semi-skeletonized hands for hours and minutes, with their blue contour, contrast the deep blue-colored minute ring on the dial’s periphery. The open-worked base plate of the watch is devoid of a dial, allowing a full view of the LV-shaped bridges and LV-decorated tungsten micro-rotor. The blue minute ring and blued hour and minute hands surrounding the base plate give the watch a unique and striking appearance, perfect for those who appreciate modern skeleton watches.

The movement of the Voyager Skeleton is conceptualized by LFT and executed by Le Cercle des Horlogers, a movement maker that’s a sister company of Speake-Marin. The Calibre LV60 is a new skeletonized movement and the brand’s first automatic time-only skeleton calibre. It beats at 28,800vph, has 48 hours of power reserve, and features a “Louis Vuitton” cut-out ratchet wheel. The bridges possess a distinctive, geometric style that is decidedly architectural. The automatic-winding bridge clearly forms a large “LV,” but the branding is surprisingly discreet. The rhodium-plated parts give the watch a monochromatic appearance.

The alligator strap with pin buckle perfectly complements the Voyager Skeleton’s design, giving it a luxurious touch. The watch is limited to 150 pieces and is available exclusively at Louis Vuitton boutiques. The price of this exquisite timepiece is €48,000.
