Oris Chronoris Date Movember Edition 2019 Watch

BY JOVAN KRSTEVSKI

Having partnered with the charitable Movember foundation for two consecutive years, Oris is back yet again to extend its support towards the physical and mental well-being of all men out there. To celebrate this year’s partnership, Oris has come up with a special version of the vintage-inspired Oris Chronoris Date.

Introduced during Baselworld 2017, the Oris Chronoris date draws heavily from a 70’s chronograph with the same name and the Movember edition enhances the vintage flavor using some nice gilt flourishes. At the center of it all is a two-tone black face that has a dark circular center surrounded by a lighter section that features rectangular lumed hour markings and a date at 3. Sitting behind the hour index is a printed    white rally-style track with golden squares at intervals of 5. And finally, on the outermost periphery is a rotatable 60-minute chapter ring that can be used to time events. Time can be read using the gilt colored blocky hour/minute hands and a funky tapering orange seconds hands that adds just the right pop of color to the dial.

Like the dial, the case on the Chronoris date offers oodles of retro vibe through its distinctive-looking Tonneau style shape. It measures 39mm in diameter and has been tastefully done with a beautiful outward radiating brushed pattern on the top and fine polishing across the rest of the case. The right side of the case is flanked by two oversized crowns at 2 and 4 which can be used to control the internal bezel and set the time. A sapphire crystal sits on the front whereas the case back has been kept closed and has been decorated with some special engravings that include the text “Oris Movember Edition” and a mustache motif, which is the logo of the Movember foundation. The case is water-resistant to a healthy 100 meters.

Powering this watch is the automatic Oris caliber 733. This is a modified version of the trustworthy Sellita 200-1 movement and features a famous custom Oris red rotor. It operates at a frequency of 4Hz and offers a respectable autonomy of 38 hours when fully wound.

The Oris Chronoris Date Movember Edition 2019 is a handsome looking watch with a noble intent behind it. The watch would retail for CHF 1,900 on a leather strap and CHF 2,100 on a steel bracelet and would come along with an additional nato strap packaged inside a special box.
