Oris Soars High With The New ProPilot GMT Watch

A striking timepiece for pilots and frequent travelers.

Oris is renowned for its aviation-inspired timepieces and now they bring back the ProPilot GMT with a bold twist – a Red Gradient Dial. Building on the legacy of the iconic Big Crown released in 1938, the ProPilot GMT embraces modernity while maintaining its aviation roots.

The gray-PVD-plated stainless steel case exudes a stealthy charm, featuring a screw-in security crown and a pulsometer bezel for precise heart rate measurements. This notable feature is a nod to Oris’s collaboration with leading aeromedical organizations globally. The dimensions, at 41.5 mm in diameter and a height that speaks to robustness, ensure a durable timekeeping companion for the modern aviator. Sapphire glass protects the watch from the front and the back. Water resistance is 100 meters.

The Red Gradient Dial steals the spotlight, the tone gradually intensifies from the center to outwards, creating a powerful visual effect. Applied Arabic numerals and hands, all imbued with Super-LumiNova, enhance visibility against the vibrant backdrop. The central red pointer indicates the second time zone, a feature vital for globe-trotting pilots. The date window at 3 o’clock adds practicality to the avant-garde design.

Powering the ProPilot GMT is the Oris Calibre 798, an automatic 25 jewels movement boasting a 42-hour power reserve. The intricate inner workings of this aviation classic can be gazed upon through the transparent case back, vibrating at 28,800 A/h.

Completing the ensemble is a black textile strap with a red leather lining and Oris’s signature ‘Lift’ clasp, reminiscent of airplane seatbelt buckles. The timepiece is priced at CHF 2,900.
