Patek Philippe has unveiled their highly anticipated timepiece for the Only Watch 2024 auction, a unique version of their Grande Sonnerie Ref. 6301A-010. This watch demonstrates Patek’s mastery of horological complexity, making it a fitting contribution to this prestigious charity event.

The 37mm x 7.5mm Ref. 6301A-010 boasts the Grande Sonnerie complication, a pinnacle of watchmaking that chimes the time automatically in passing quarters and full hours. This intricate function is complemented by a petite sonnerie mode for hourly chimes and a minute repeater that sounds the time on demand. The movement, visible through the sapphire caseback, is truly a masterpiece of engineering with over 700 hand-finished parts.

Winding is manual with Caliber GS 36-750 PS IRM. The stainless steel case, a surprising choice for such a high-end complication, is not just about aesthetics. Steel offers superior sound transmission, allowing the rich tones of the chimes to resonate more clearly. The dial features an enchanting hand-guilloché flinqué enamel finish in blue-green, the result of Patek Philippe’s Rare Handcrafts department. Diamond hour markers bestow luxurious quality.

The estimated price for this Ref. 6301A is between CHF 1.5 – 1.8 million, with its sale proceeds going towards research on Muscular Dystrophies.
