Zenith unveil its new El Primero Stratos Flyback Rainbow watch. Limited to just 250 pieces, the novelty will be available exclusively in Zenith boutiques.
The new Zenith watch has been inspired by the brand’s Rainbow Flyback watch born in 1997. The 1997 high-performance timepiece was created according to technical specifications established for the French Air Force – to withstand the most extreme conditions.
The heart of the novel Rainbow model is the El Primero Calibre 405 B automatic movement. Operating at the frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour to guarantee 1/10th second precision, the movement provides a date display, a telemetric scale, and the flyback function. Created for those fond of aviation, the watch with the flyback function allows the user to stop, start and restart the chronograph at just one press on the push-piece (a simple chronograph requires three presses).
The case of the El Primero Stratos Flyback Rainbow measures 45.5 mm in diameter. It is rendered in black Alchron, a titanium and aluminum alloy characterized by supreme lightness and resistance. The case-construction incorporates a rotating bezel with a scratch-resistant aluminum ring.
The shape of the rounded sapphire crystal reminds an astrodome. The see-through sapphire case-back allows to admire the beauty of the movement beating inside.
The black dial is completed with contrasting white Superluminova hour-markers. The minutes counter is found at 3 o’clock. Following the steps of the first model created together with a fighter pilot, the minutes counter is presented in colors to guarantee night-time reading in infrared-lit cockpits. The hours are featured at 6 o’clock, while the small seconds are at 9 o’clock. The chronograph sweep seconds hand is presented in red. The dial is framed by an inner bezel ring with a telemetric scale.
