Mido Belluna II Heures & Minutes Decentrees ref. M024.444.16.031.00 Watch

Mido, a company we really don’t talk about often here on WristReview. In fact, it’s not discussed much by some of the other big watch sites either, but when the Masthead showed me a picture of Mido’s latest creation I paused what I was doing to take it all in.

A visual feast this new watch is, too. In the style of Lange, the dial has been split up, however, this design takes a couple cues from the past with the leaf shaped hands which are delicately placed and a thin track around the seconds dial. My favourite part of the dial is the super thin seconds hand, it’s big, but it doesn’t get in the way. In fact, it’s like the hands off the speedometer in an old Lancia, It works well with the delicate sunray guilloche. The overlapping hours/minutes and seconds dials are joined by a third display, below them is a date function represented by a white band with black numbers and a small arrow to indicate what the date actually is. The dial makes a good use of the black nickel plated rings around the subdials to help them stand out. There’s also the model name wrapped around the top right quarter of the main dial

The movement inside the stainless steel case which measures 40mm in diameter is an ETA 2825-2 movement which uses a Nivacourbe shock absorbing system with a Nivaflex mainspring. The nickel balance wheel fits in well with the decorated movement which has polished screw heads with an automatic rotor that has been decorated with the Mido logo and Geneva stripes as well. This movement can run for around 40 hours which is pretty standard nowadays.

The watch is presented on a black crocodile appearing case made of genuine calf leather which has been integrated directly into the case, although there are still lugs which will give extra security.

Water resistant to 50m this new Mido is a great looking watch if you’re looking for something which can run with the dressed up look of the modern businessman, but you’d still like to hit the town later on. Not only this but from a distance it really does look like a great piece, not to say that it doesn’t look great up close. The new Mido Belluna II Heures & Minutes Décentrées might just be a great gift for a special female, the delicate looks balance out the masculinity of the subdials, a perfect balance.
