This year marks 20 years of the BR square case. Since the BR-01 first hit in 2005, Bell & Ross has proven the “circle in a square” is more than a gimmick. The new BR-X3 lands right where the brand’s experimental X series belongs; somewhere between stealth and spectacle.
The unmistakable BR case measures 41mm x 13.30mm, it uses a sandwich style construction that stacks two outer plates with a contrasting band running through the middle. Bruno Belamich, the brand’s co-founder, calls it a way to mix finishes and colors while reinforcing the structure. On the wrist, this layered build isn’t just visual; it adds depth you can feel.
The BR-X3 Black Titanium is light, corrosion resistant and unapologetically monochrome, leaning into a tool watch territory with gray and black contrast; it’s certainly the stealthier, more technical choice. Priced at €8,400 / US$7,900 / £7,200.
The BR-X3 Blue Steel swaps titanium for polished steel, adds anodized blue accents and tops it with a shimmering sunray dial. It trades some grit for flair. Setting you back €7,400 / US$6,800 / £6,300.
Both share the same dial layout: a three date aperture at 3 o’clock balanced by a power reserve at 9. The symmetry keeps things clean, while baignoire-style indices filled with Super-LumiNova ensure night readability. Water resistance is 100m.
Powering everything is the BR-CAL.323, built by Kenissi and COSC-certified. It runs at 4Hz, packs 70 hours of power and comes with a five year warranty; clear progress from Bell & Ross’s ETA days.
Each version ships on a vented rubber strap designed for breathability. Combined with the compact size, the BR-X3 shows that the BR-X3 is exactly what the X series should be; a bold evolution of an already iconic design.
