Citizen’s Promaster Diver collection has been a favorite among diving enthusiasts for years, offering reliable and functional watches designed for underwater adventures. Citizen has recently added three new watches to the Promaster Diver Automatic line, inspired by the Fugu puffer fish, a creature known for its complex patterns and dangerous toxins.

The case of the new Citizen Promaster Diver Automatic “Fugu” watches measures 44mm x 13.1mm and is made of stainless steel. One of the references is black ion-plated, and all three models feature a serrated unidirectional bezel inspired by the Fugu puffer fish. The bezel is fitted with a black or blue insert that has a 60-minute scale, and the watch has a screw-down crown, ensuring water resistance up to 200m. As part of the ISO-certified range of watches, the Citizen Promaster Diver Automatic “Fugu” watches are built to withstand the rigors of underwater exploration.

The dial of the Citizen Promaster Diver Automatic “Fugu” watches is protected by a sapphire crystal and comes in different colors depending on the model. Two of the references have either a deep blue or black dial, while the third features a fully luminous white dial. The texture on the dial is a direct reference to the complex patterns Fugu puffer fishes draw in the sand as part of their mating ritual. All three models have large applied numerals and oversized hour and minute hands finished in different styles. The central seconds hand has a luminous triangular tip, and a date window is located at 3 o’clock, displaying the day of the week and the date side by side at a beveled rectangular aperture.

The Citizen Promaster Diver Automatic “Fugu” watches are powered by Citizen caliber 8204, an automatic movement that beats at 21,600vph and has a power reserve of 42 hours. The solid caseback of the watch is decorated with an engraving of a puffer fish, adding a touch of uniqueness to the timepiece.

The new Citizen Promaster Diver Automatic “Fugu” watches come on various straps and bracelets, with prices ranging from USD 550 to USD 650. The black and yellow NY0130-08E comes with a black polyurethane strap and steel pin buckle and retails for USD 550. The NY0136-52L is worn on a stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp and retails for USD 595. The black ion-plated NY0137-09A comes with a blue polyurethane strap with a black pin buckle, retails for USD 650, and is the most expensive of the three. The watches are currently available online and at Citizen stores in the UK, the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
