Introducing The Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar & PanoReserve Watches For 2019

BY JOVAN KRSTEVSKI

For 2019, Glashütte Original is adding two new watches to its more modern looking Pano collection. The new Pano Reserve and PanoMaticLunar keep the distinctive design DNA of the collection intact and bring forth beautiful handmade blue dials framed inside red gold cases.

The major draw of the Pano collection has always been its asymmetrical dial design and that continues with the new PanoMaticLunar and PanomaticReserve. Both watches feature an off-centered time display and a big date at 4, with the only difference being the power reserve or a moon phase complication. Layout apart what makes these watches special are their intricate blue dials which are made in the brand’s in-house dial manufactory in Pforzheim. Each dial takes up to 40 steps to create and utilizes a strictly controlled galvanization process to achieve the desired rich shade of blue. Further to that the off-center hour and minute and small seconds dials are decorated with an elaborate vinyl style guilloche pattern which gives the watch some nice visual dynamism.

The cases on the new PanoMaticLunar and PanoReserve are made from solid red gold and are beautifully finished offering a nice interplay between brushed and polished surfaces. The golden color tone gives a nice sense of warmth to the watch and provides a good contrast against the blue dial. There is a sapphire crystal on both front and back and the case is water resistant to 50 meters which is apt for dressy watches like these.

Powering these new watches are two separate in-house movements. The PanomaticReserve is driven by the manually wound caliber 65-01 whereas the PanoMaticLunar is powered by the automatic caliber 90-2. Both movements operate at a frequency of 4Hz and offer a power reserve of 42 hours and have been exquisitely decorated for the wearers viewing pleasure.

The new Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar and PanomaticReserve are great looking elegant watches which are a seamless blend of contemporary looks and German craftsmanship. The watches would come attached to a Dark blue Louisiana alligator leather strap which nicely matches the dial and comes with a red gold pin buckle. Prices are yet to be announced and we will update this space once we have the required information.
