Following the success of the Sakura-themed releases earlier this year, Grand Seiko continues its exploration of nature-inspired dials with the SBGH345G “Sunrise at Mount Iwate” watch. Drawing inspiration from the majestic peak bathed in the morning sun, this timepiece combines vibrant aesthetics with the brand’s renowned Hi-Beat precision engineering.

The case is sized at 40mm x 13.3mm and is crafted from the ever-brilliant steel, a proprietary alloy renowned for its exceptional corrosion resistance. The sharp facets and Zaratsu polishing, hallmarks of Grand Seiko’s meticulous finishing, lend the case a distinctive play of light, further enhancing its elegant character.

The dial truly steals the show with a deep and mesmerizing red, akin to the first rays of dawn painting the snow-capped peak, forming the backdrop for a captivating sunray pattern. This subtle texture, etched deep into the dial, creates a striking play of light, reminiscent of the sun’s gentle touch on Mount Iwate’s slopes. The face is completed by multifaceted hands and hour indexes.

Beneath the exterior lies the Hi-Beat 9S85 Caliber. Operating at a high frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour, this 37 jewels self-winding movement boasts an impressive accuracy of +5 to -3 seconds per day, with 55 hours power reserve.

Completing the package is a polished stainless-steel bracelet, seamlessly integrated with the case for a cohesive aesthetic. The watch will be available exclusively through Grand Seiko’s online boutiques starting in March 2024, with a price tag of $6,900.
