Introducing The Linde Werdelin 3 Timer Nord Watch

Linde Werdelin’s 3 Timer Nord has a striking blue dial, one that’s apparently been inspired by the changing colours of the North Sea, something that’s not visible from Copenhagen where the brand is based, but we’ll gloss over that. The 3 Timer Nord is designed to be a more fashionable looking piece that still retains Linde Werdelin’s classic appearance. It contains elegant parts, but it keeps the bulky and masculine lines that we’ve come to love from this particular brand. Let’s take a closer look.

While the North Sea is not visible from Copenhagen, it is visible from the North and West parts of the country, and it’s known on this side of the pond and Denmark’s side as being quite the view on a good day. The gradient blue fumé dial of the 3 Timer Nord reflects this well with its colour and segmented engraving which almost seems to reflect the endless waves that sit atop the sea. The hands are crisp and clean and contrast with the dial well, and their dauphine style gives them an elegance that contrasts the chunky matte case. There’s even a date window, but it’s not been made too large. For ease of reading at night, the hands and markers have been given a coating of lume. And, by the way, the GMT bezel is not fixed so that you can use this watch to time three separate timezones.

Inside the matte stainless steel case (which measures at an impressive 44mm x 46mm x 15mm with 300m water resistance by the way) you’ll find an automatic ETA 2893-2 GMT calibre. It has a 4Hz beat rate, a 42-hour power reserve and 21 jewels, and it has my favourite feature of a movement like this: it’s not been given a calibre name by Linde Werdelin. They’ve said straight-up “yes this is a bought-in movement. So what?” and that’s precisely how it should be.

You can get the stylish new 3 Timer Nord on either a blue rubber strap, a textured calfskin “midnight” strap or a matte stainless steel bracelet. All of these are interchangeable thanks to a simple tool. This watch is a limited edition run of just 55 pieces which retail for either $5773, €5125, £4600 or 0.6118 Bitcoins.
