Introducing The Panerai Luminor Marina Panerai Goldtech 44mm PAM01112 Watch

BY JOVAN KRSTEVSKI

Panerai released a slew of new Luminor watches as part of its 2020 novelties and one among them is the Panerai Luminor Marina Goldtech (Reference PAM01112), the first-ever Luminor Marina with a Goldtech case.

Panerai is a brand that is well-known for making bold looking watches with a very specific and peculiar design language. While the overall styling has remained virtually unchanged, one area the brand has certainly excelled in is the creation and use of innovative materials such as Goldtech, Carbotech, and Fibratech. The case on the PAM01112 measures 44mm in diameter and has been crafted from Goldtech, a unique alloy comprising Gold, a small quantity of Platinum, and a high percentage of Copper. Material aside, the case exhibits the much loved Panerai aesthetics with nice chunky lugs, a smooth bezel on top, and the patented crown mechanism at 3. Water-resistance is limited to just 50 meters, which I feel is on the lower side especially for a Panerai.

Panerai has given the PAM01112, a beautiful iridescent blue face that provides excellent contrast against the gold case. The dial also gets a nice outward radiating sunburst finish which lends some elegance to the watch. As for the layout, you have a familiar Panerai style arrangement. A combination of bold cutout Arabic numerals and batons constitutes the hour markers, there a running seconds display with a leaf-shaped hand at 9, a date window at 3 and simple broad swords to read the time. Additionally, the sandwich-style construction would ensure that low light visibility is never an issue. The lume application along with the text on the dial has been executed in white and looks great against the blue background.

Powering the watch is Panerai’s in-house caliber P.9010. An automatic movement, the P.9010 features 31 jewels, operates at a frequency of 4 Hz, and offers a power reserve of 3 days with the help of two barrels. The movement has a nice industrial finish to it and can be viewed through the exhibition case back.

The new Panerai Luminor Marina Goldtech aka PAM01112 would come attached to a blue alligator strap and will retail for USD 22,900.
