IWC Unveils The Portugieser Automatic 40 And Perpetual Calendar 42 Green Watches

Green arrives in IWC’s two popular lines of watches.

Any watch connoisseur who has been tracking social media over the past few years is aware that green, in all of its varied hues, is the color of the decade, at least in terms of horology. Consequently, enthusiasts are quite thrilled about it. To slake the desire of watch enthusiasts for green, IWC now gives their IWC Portugieser Automatic 40 and IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 42 a green makeover.

What’s common in both the editions is that dark green dials are given a sunray-brushed finishing. In addition to their increased amount of detail, sunburst dials also play with with light in interesting ways, which adds to their allure. The Rhodium-plated hands and accents, leaf hands, applied Arabic numerals and railroad minute tracks in white color adorn the dark green dials. Also, the cases are constructed in stainless steel with sapphire crystals on both side, offering 30 meters of water resistance.

IWC Portugieser Automatic 40 IW358310 is simple time-only model which was initially introduced two years ago, which in-turn was made to be a more compact and streamlined take on Portugieser concept. Thus this model has case dimensions of 40.4mm x 12.3mm. It harbors IWC Schaffhausen’s in-house calibre 82200, which is an automatic movement with Pellaton winding system and wear-free ceramic parts. With a frequency of 4Hz frequency, it provides 60 hours of power reserve.

It is offered on a matching green alligator leather strap with tone-on-tone stitching. IWC Portugieser Automatic 40 (ref. IW358310), a timepiece from the brand’s permanent collection, is presently offered by the brand and retailers with a price tag of EUR 7,350.

IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 42 IW344207 shares a similar reason for existence like its Portugieser Automatic 40 cousin. It is a more condensed and straightforward interpretation of an existing movement, driven by a less complex movement than the bulky 44mm 7-day automatic QP. Consequently, it comes in a more compact size of 42.4mm x 13.8mm. IWC Schaffhausen’s own calibre 82650 with QP module and Pellaton winding system powers this model. It has 4Hz frequency and offers 60 hours of autonomy. Movement offers perpetual calendar with date, day, month, leap year and moonphase functions.

IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 42 (ref. IW344207) is offered on a matching green alligator leather strap with tone-on-tone stitching and is also part of brand’s permanent collection, currently available with an MSRP of EUR 23,200.
