Okay so I’m quite excited with the Atelier Reverso service presented in 2016 wherein Jaeger-LeCoultre offered its customers the possibility to customize their own Reverso. The available tweaks or designs or perhaps customizations for a better wording are solely based on dial choices alone and of course some other details – seems too traditional eh, but the strap changing is pretty much a plug n’ play approach. Anyways, the Reverso Classic Large Duo Small Second is still a legend and a classic so everything here is really exciting.
The customization here is already noteworthy since you can basically swap out special dials and straps to match any mood you’re in. The trio of dials you can choose from includes Electric Blue, Military Marble, and Tiger’s Eye dials. They have matching straps and there’s the practicality on this design which normally is reserved to the original Atelier Reverso introduced in 2016 celebrating JLC’s 85th anniversary, initially for women. We’re not going to talk about women’s watch here so yeah, I like this men’s Reverso.
Moving on, the Reverso Classic Large Duo Small Second comes in stainless steel case measuring 47mm x 28.3mm. It doesn’t look too large thanks to its rectangular design and this makes it rather stylish and rare these days. It’s made for style and the first thing I always notice looking at it is its nice crown positioned at 9 o’clock… really good for the lefty among us although for the right handers, adjusting time would mean some serious business, just kidding. Of course this doesn’t matter because this is the Reverso meaning if you flip the watch, there is the second time zone with a day/night indicator.
Its unique style serves its amazing elements particularly its lugs that truly makes the straps blend in with the dial, behaving as if weaving through it, remember the overall theme I’m talking about, well this is it and it goes across the back side too.
The dial on the other hand seems boring at first but it’s quite luxurious as it packs a combination of guilloché and brushed finish. The small seconds indicator looks rather dandy than functional but that’s just me. The reverse dial concept is superb and without customization, it sports a Clous de Paris ground with an opaline dial set into it, looks pretty already to me. Of course we all like options so you can change this specific detail at will. As for the trio designs, the new electric blue color looks so sharp. The new stone dials quite reflect a military-influenced dial in green marble, it’s cool. And of course the tiger’s eye sporting a gemstone gleaming with a pleasing amber warmth, I like this one.
Powering the Reverso is the manually-wound caliber 854A/2. It sports 30 meters of water resistance thanks to its durable steel case. At 21,600 vibrations per hour, it offers 42 hours of power reserve which is already impressive for this grade.
Again this Reverso is perfect for those who like to swap elements at will. The straps are available in multiple designs with materials like calfskin, alligator leather, ostrich leather, and satin and you can even change the buckle to complement your own theme.
