Vacheron Constantin Unveils Two New Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin Watches

A perpetual calendar reduced to just 8.1 millimeters with lacquer dials that do all the talking.

Vacheron Constantin just released two new takes on their Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra Thin. As we know it’s the perfect watch for jet setters who still want that proper Geneva hallmarked luxury under their cuffs; the references are certified with the Poinçon de Genève. Both pieces sit within the familiar 41.5mm case yet measure a mere 8.1mm “thick”. Each case integrates a soft iron ring for anti magnetic protection and remains water resistant to 5 bar, approximately 50 metres.

The first of the pair is hewn from 18K 5N pink gold, from its bracelet to the dial. The dial itself is golden toned translucent lacquer, with a sunburst satin finished base, velvet finished flange and snailed counters. Hour markers, hands and the moon phase disc are all rendered in the same pink gold, while blue Super LumiNova and a subtle blue minutes track break the monochrome warmth. The result is a measured, almost restrained uniformity, which can be dialled down further by swapping to the supplied rubber straps in white or dark blue.

The second model embraces contrast. Its 18K white gold case frames a burgundy lacquer dial, with a sunburst base, velvet finished flange and snailed counters. White gold markers, hands with blue Super LumiNova and a matching burgundy moon disc complete the picture. It is a richer chromatic play than the pink gold, capable of changing personality depending on whether it is paired with the gold bracelet, burgundy rubber or the cooler white strap.

The dial moves in sync with the 1120 QP/1, a movement so slim it almost disappears. At 4.05 mm high it carries the weight of a perpetual calendar, tracking date, day, month, leap year and the turning of the moon. It beats at 19,800vph (2.75 Hz), has a 40 hour power reserve and comprises 276 components with 36 jewels. A 22K gold oscillating weight decorated with a compass rose is visible through the transparent sapphire back.

Both watches are delivered with their gold bracelets and two additional rubber straps via the brand’s tool free interchange system. Each carries the Geneva Seal and is available exclusively through Vacheron Constantin boutiques worldwide, priced in line with the standing of the Overseas collection.
