For seven long years the team at Christophe Claret have been developing the Maestoso, with the aim of equipping a wristwatch with a traditional high-precision detent escapement. The detent escapement is usually found in stabilized clocks, however, it is rare that a company is able to incorporate this escapement into a wristwatch and this makes the Christophe Claret Maestoso a rare achievement.
The reason why it is so rare to find a detent escapement in a wristwatch is because of how sensitive it is to shock. The escapement was originally designed for marine chronometers and engineered to be mounted on gimbals offering a stable position, therefore trying to take that technology and incorporate it into a wristwatch is very difficult but the folks at Christophe Claret have found a way to overcome both major issues: Over-banking and turning-over.
To ensure to escapement functions with minimal risk of damage and wear, Christophe Claret has incorporated additional protective shock-absorbing systems into its Maestoso timepiece. This will prevent any excess shock that can stop or even release the escape wheel, breaking it.
Another important feature of the Maestoso is the use of the Caliber DTC07 mechanical hand-wound movement that includes dual mainspring barrels, a constant force mechanism, stop seonds, and a micrometric worm screw on the regulator to regulate the timing rate.
