The idea of a perpetual watch sounds very inviting. It may just be a timepiece for everyone but for us watch aficionados; it’s practically everything we’ve ever dreamed of. Most high-end watches only have the date but the very complex ones feature calendar functions although they require timely adjustments for the months that don’t have 31 day cycle. This is where the Langematik Perpetual outshines the competition. It sports perpetual calendar that literally doesn’t require any adjustment in one’s lifetime.
Indeed, the Langematik Perpetual watch caters to the needs of those expecting nothing less but the best in technical masterpieces in the high-end watch segment. As far as I know, perpetual calendars are so far offered only in select high-end watches. This particular release introduces the new black-dial perpetual calendar in white gold.
The dial exudes class in its purest form. At this price segment, I expect nothing less though. Fortunately, the watch delivers more than what’s expected of it. It comes in black solid-silver and boasts of infinite wonders to behold. That’s the beauty of it for watch aficionados; the subtle geometry screams for attention and I totally yield to this magnificent timepiece. I found it appropriate for the rhodium-gold hands and appliques to be on the raised portion of the dial as it gives accent to the four sub dials of months, leap year, seconds and days. At one point I got lost in the mix of complex information compacted in the dial but a closer examination made me realize just how much time was spent in the making of this watch. Everything makes sense such as the outsize date right under the XII clearly depicting the classic Langematik fashion.
The case being 38.5 mm in diameter and 10.2 mm in height, simply demonstrates class at its best. The elegant white-gold case combined with the black solid-silver dial delivers quick information at a single glance. Rarely have I seen a machining process so precisely done that if you actually look at Langematik Perpetual watch over a magnifying glass, you’ll see no imperfections. The contours of the hands which are also luminous, the printed marks, the curves, the joints, they all snugly fit together like a carefully arranged music by a maestro. Then, they are finally enclosed in a sapphire crystal.
Of course nothing would hold the watch better than the black crocodile strap and a white-gold prong buckle. Looking at the watch as a whole, I somehow get the gist of what a vivid contrast of colors looks like. The lugs, the bezel, and the crown, they all compliment each other. In fact, I haven’t noticed any alien pieces in the watch. Perhaps, I spent so much time staring at the watch but wouldn’t you?
The watch is powered by the Sax-0-Mat calibre, featuring self-winding technology with a patented Zero-Reset mechanism which means that when the crown is pulled, the seconds hand jumps to the zero position thus simplifying the synchronization of the watch. All of these precise 478 moving parts with 43 jewels are exhibited through the sapphire-crystal case back where you can gaze at the bidirectional 21-carat gold winding rotor that yields 46 hours of power reserve.
Certainly, this new version of the Langematik Perpetual watch line not only preserves the original endeavor but practically goes beyond it. For more info, please visit alange-soehne.com
