Newly released is the latest-generation of the distinctive Commander Calibre 80 Chronometer with a distinctively masculine temperament with superbly honed performance. The commander has been produced by Mido without interruption since it was first released in 1959, not many manufactures can boast that. Mido have kept true to the Commander DNA with this new piece with its clean crisp line, and a true timeless design.
The slender round case gives a hint of dress watch feel but definitely remains sporty without being too loud about it. The clean, simple lines make it one of the best expressions of Mido’s philosophy. The 40 mm stainless steel case has been given a satin-finish with only the bezel polished giving a great contrast. The dial is a cool anthracite colour with sunburst polish finish giving an excellent contrast between the dial and the highly polished indexes marking the hours, bold white minute markers and orange numerals grace the minute-circle hugging the outer edge, coupled and an orange second hand the commander emphasises its sporty yet elegant nature. The aperture at 3 O’clock displays the day and date with black on white numerals. Mido have added delicate touches of SuperLumiNova to the hour and minute hands as well as the polished indexes thus guaranteeing easy legibility day or night.
Turning the commander over you are greeted with an exhibition case-back that reveals the Chronometer 80 movement(ETA co7.621 base) developed in accordance with Mido’s high standards and ensures up to 80 hours of power reserve. This exceptional autonomy goes hand in hand with unbeatable precision: The movement is certified by the Controle Official Suisse des Chronometres (COSC). The movement has been decorated slightly with blued screws and an oscillating weight with Geneva stripes and Mido’s logo. Water resistant to 50m adding to its slightly sporty credentials.
