Well, folks, I am glad to tell you the news that the Omega Planet Ocean collection releases plenty of new stuff for the Baselworld 2016. Before you expect big changes I hate to break it to you but you have probably heard Omega’s selling point which is the METAS certified Master Chronometer movement. With this in mind, the winners are the consumers since we get the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Master Chronometer chronograph in bigger and bolder timepieces sporting the buzzing METAS certified Master Chronometer movement. I for one am very excited for Baselworld 2016 and can’t obviously wait to see these new Omegas since obviously in the Omega world things move very slowly.
First things first let us examine the watch in a typical way by starting with its case. For the Omega Planet Ocean Master Chronometer Chronograph, we get a 45.5 mm stainless steel and 18K Sedna rose gold case with a black or deep blue ceramic dial and bezel. This combination is looking great and very sporty at least in my opinion. If you ask me what really changed well for one there is the Liquidmetal implementation – this is way cooler than any pure gold or pure metal finishings. I like the hypnotic bezel too courtesy of its deep blue ceramic finish plus the mesmerizing Sedna gold highlights. I think it is safe to say that there are really lots of noticeable changes in this new Omega.
As for the dial, it also sports deep blue ceramic which I believe is very classy yet sporty. When paired with Sedna gold not rose gold or whatever, the reflections on the dial are mesmerizing if not hypnotic. The chronograph sub-dials are carefully located strategically as per Omega standards at the usual 9 and 3 o’clock. The hands are also lumed for legibility but for this Chronograph watch, we get a uniformly tipped seconds hand which I believe is superb. Omega’s applied Ceragold indices looks sharp plus the unique Arabic 12 at the top of the dial looks playful with its modernized font a clear sure step from Omega from its vintage signatures.
As you know by now Omega’s Planet Ocean watches are getting equipped with the 9900 series co-axial master chronometer developed in-house and certified by METAS for uncompromising accuracy and long-term reliability. This translates to durability of course since the METAS ensures that the watch gets fully anti-magnetic features. You can also be comfortable with the impressive 60 hours of power reserve which is really surprising for this caliber.
This is one of Omega’s flagship watches and everybody is excited to see it on Baselworld 2016. The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Master Chronometer Chronograph is expected to have a price tag of 14,500 CHF when it hits the market. For more info, please visit omegawatches.com
